Siemens SMART BUILDINGS Zug

SPARK Innovation Space #SparkInnovationZug by Billy Linehan

Photo above of the SPARK Innovation Space in the Siemens Smart Buildings Campus in Zug Switzerland. I was there last week to write an upcoming article for Irish Tech News.

This is a just opened internal innovation space for Siemens employees, with a similar layout to the latest Startup Accelerators and co-working spaces.

Building Information Modelling (BIM)

The Siemens Campus is a model project for Building Information Modelling (BIM) consisting of a 7 storey office building with 1,000 work spaces, a production facility and a third building which will be refurbished by 2021.

The Campus is one of the first Siemens construction projects to use  Building Information Modelling (BIM); which consists of the planning, implementation and maintenance of

  • fire detection,
  • access and intrusion control,
  • CCTV,
  • CO detection,
  • Fire extinguishing,
  • voice evacuation,
  • HVAC automation,
  • room automation
  • and CPS field devices

The LEED Platinum Standard has been issued for the office building and LEED Gold for the production building in the Campus.

Comfy App

Also in use is the Comfy “workplace experience” App enabling employees to work in an environment that intelligently responds to their needs. Siemens purchased the US startup Comfy in 2018.
