Your Business Day 2013, free business event for Dublin
Hundreds of entrepreneurs and new StartUps are gathering at the Science Gallery today (Friday, 18th October) for ‘Your Business Day 2013’, a free day-long event marking 20 years of enterprise supports to new businesses in the capital.
“A highlight of the year is Your Business Day”, Billy Linehan of Celtar Business Consultants, “I am delighted to be MC of the event in the Science Gallery”.
“Dublin has attracted a lot of attention for Tech StartUps, but is also a hub of activity for StartUps from a range of sectors. (See list of companies below).
Despite the focus on one sector, US research quoted by Finfact.ie shows that typically 75% of high growth firms are not in the high tech sector. *
“In any case”, Billy says, “it is difficult to define what is a pure play technology business these days, all businesses utilise technology as a tool.
My suggestion for any government anywhere with an interest in promoting enterprise is to reduce the cost of doing business, and in Ireland reduce the cost for business owners of Irish StartUps and SMEs.”
Organised every year by the Dublin City Enterprise Board, 20 different business owners and entrepreneurs, with expertise in a range of industries, are sharing insights and tips at a series of free presentations and workshops at the Trinity college venue.
The winner of the 2013 Dublin City Enterprise of the Year, Ollie Fitzgerald of Synergy Stocktaking, is one of the guest speakers at today’s event. The company, which offers a highly sophisticated, custom-built stocktaking solution for the hospitality sector, is representing the Capital at the annual National Enterprise Awards next month.
