Shame in this era of StartUp support and euphoria that the leading LEO in the Capital City had not been funded sufficiently to meet the needs of local entrepreneurs. This is not the first time this has occured.
“This is an indictment of the government” said one local business woman, “it’s all image and PR puffery. Non tech businesses receive very little practical support in forms of funding, state agencies are created to interfere in the free market, add bureaucracy and administration, and the banks are not pressed to loan to ordinary decent businesses” the Dublin business woman declared.
The startup and micro business support unit of Dublin City Council announced
“The next closing date for the submission of grant applications LEO Dublin City is, Tuesday 6th September 2016 subject to funding being available. The Evaluation Committee meeting will take place on Thursday 6th October 2016.
In the meantime, grant application for the full range of LEO Dublin City supports are still being assessed and will be recognised from the date the application is received into the Office.
Due to the high level of activity within the start-up community in Dublin City, LEO Dublin City has allocated its current grant/loan funding for 2016. “
LEO Dublin City and it’s predecessor Dublin City Enterprise Board has supported a stellar list of clients and their businesses. Backed up by an efficient team of officers, and with business mentors of great experience a vast range of City businesses have been supported, EY finalists, hundreds of HPSUs and Enterprise Ireland clients and many business award winners. Possibly it’s greatest impact has been on the companies who are not well known, business women and men who have created thousands of jobs and contributed immensely to the City economy.
