Filtrex Ltd. – providing green fuel solutions
Founded in 2002 Filtrex started off as a supplier and installer of dust extraction systems, in recent years business has evolved from the extraction of waste material to the handling and recycling of waste. In fact Filtex has become market leaders and experts in providing waste management systems.
As well as dust extraction and filtration they are recognised specialists in supplying and installing
- biomass boiler systems, ranging from 90kw to greater than 1MW
- briquetting plants and machines
- shredder systems
Filtrex installed the biomass boilers for Tralee UDC’s Deans Lane scheme which incorporates a number of eco and energy saving features and is the first woodchip district heating scheme in Ireland utilising locally produced fuel according to Senior Executive Engineer, Tim McSwiney
This project provides district heating of 1,000kW heat for over 40 apartments, a convent and a library with a state of the art biomass boiler system, see www.tralee.ie/Deans%20Lane.htm
Probably the best known briquetting plant that Filtrex has installed is on the farm in North Dublin where Strogs straw briquettes are produced. This rural enterprise was featured on RTE’s “Higher Ground” TV programme, see www.strogs.ie
Brendan Lynch MD of Filtrex explains “briquettes can be produced from straw, rape, miscanthus, hemp, waste wood and green timber, and thus are an excellent green fuel and an alternative to more expensive imported fuels”.
